Government for the People of Tomorrow

Youth In Government is one of the many YMCA programs here at Boyd H. Anderson High School. Youth In Government was established There are many students who partake in the fine establishment. Some may say they joined because they thought and might be something new and interesting for them and others might say they just wanted community service hours and the speech credit for college. On November 18th to the 19th of 2016 the Florida Y.I.G. delegates attended the Fall Delegate Convention to familiarize themselves with the State Assembly and with the huge Y.I.G. family. Delegates from all over Florida will partake in The State Assembly which the day one will start the 21st of February and will finish on a Friday, the 24th. In the organization, you learn how to operate like the government of our country, there are tiers to what you can be apart of. First years are apart of the Legislative Branch, the delegates in the this tier are obligated to create, amend or repeal a bill for the state of Florida, they make bills; bills are and if it passes all the floors then it might be passed as an actual bill. The second tier is judicial, in Judicial delegates do court cases or you could do press corps, which is pretty much what it sounds like “Members of the Press Corps have the unique ability to affect the outcome of legislation, uncover the secrets of certain participant’s success, and make real change to Youth In Government. Delegates who have and interest and ability to observe, comment, and make an impact through words and pictures should seek membership in the Press Corps.” More info for the programs within Y.I.G. from the website http://www.floridayig.net/resources/for-students/high-school/state-assembly/press-corps-progra m/
